Hello Information Seekers!

I can't believe we are starting our 10th year at Buffalo Trail. I will be teaching Information Literacy Skills as your Teacher Librarian.  I love to read books and find resources and information using technology. This summer I read several books including: I am Malala, What Do You Do With a Problem?, Look Both Ways in the Barrio Blanco, and Raymie Nightingale. I read most of these books from the library, but sometimes I read on my Nook Color or use Overdrive Media and listen on audiobook. I also spent time this summer looking at databases and websites that we will be using throughout the school year. In my free time I like to read, walk my dog, go camping and hiking. I am looking forward to a great year! I am WILD about reading and I hope you are too!

This year I will be teaching Habits of Mind in the Integrated Arts rotation. You might ask, "What are our students learning during their Habits of Mind classes?"  Students are learning about Information Literacy.  In today's high tech world we are faced with new resources and volumes of information that increase daily.  Students are learning to read these texts efficiently, sort through facts and determine what is important in the materials they access.  They also learn to use these technologies safely. They will also be learning about non-fiction literature and researching skills.

I am looking forward to a great year with you!

Mrs. Kim Casali
